These are the notes from a short course given in the Cheshire Academy of Lifelong Learning, Keene State College, NH. They do not resemble a book; the notes were intended to provoke discussion. Also, there was little material on current wars and other matters reported in newspapers. The participants were well aware of the ongoing strife.
